Plays wanted!

For over thirty years the Stückemarkt (Play Market) of the Berlin Theatertreffen has discovered new theatre plays and promoted their authors in a lasting way. Under the motto “Recognize your self, betray the other” playwrights and literary agents from any European country may submit new, unperformed plays in any European language. The jury will select eight authors. Five plays will be presented as part of the Theatertreffen programme in the form of staged readings. The other three selected authors will have the opportunity to take part in the playwrights’ workshop. In addition two prizes will be awarded, funded by the Federal Agency for Civic Education: The New Playwriting Prize , the value of which is 5000 €, and the tt Stückemarkt Commission, which has the value of 7000 €. Both prizes include a premiere performance of the play at a renowned theatre. Deutschlandradio Kultur will choose one play as its Theatre Text as a Radio Play and produce it.
